The Factory
Early in 2007 Transmag Power Transformers Limited moved from its previous Birmingham city centre site to the Mackadown Lane site which is purposely laid out for transformer manufacturing. In 2010 the business was acquired by Ultra Electronics PMES.
The company is readily accessible from the M42, M40, M5, M6 and M1 motorways. Birmingham International Airport and Birmingham International Railway station are within 8 minutes from the factory.
Manufacturing and testing is carried out in 30,000 square feet bays5with various 15/ 20 and 5 Tonne cranes and each bay has front and rear vehicle access.
Testing is carried out in a restricted safety cage protected area. The company has numerous versatile winding machines – Core building area – Process oven with a 4 metre internal cube area – Large varnish process tank – Large coolant storage tank – Transformer tank fabrication shop and machinery with large spray booth.
The management , design, engineering, manufacturing and testing teams all have extensive experience in electrical transformer work and also offer a service to inspect and repair equipment off-shore, on- board ship or other marine locations.
